COIN74B Final Project Requirements

Due date is specified in the ETUDES ASSIGNMENT LINK- NO EXCEPTIONS
I am unable to grant any requests for late submissions on the
final.
TIPS:
Do not rely on your local computer
to test your links and images. Always upload your site
to the remote server and get a code reviewer or two to test every
single image, link, behavior, etc. When the code reviewers signs
their seal of approval on your work, and you are sure that everything
is valid, submit the URL for the site to the Assignments Link
using the Web Page radio button.
The URL of your site must be properly
submitted to the Etudes Assignment for Final Project before the
assigned due date in Etudes. See the requirements for proper
naming and folder structure for your final project.
The purpose of your final project is to demonstrate
that you can create one unified cohesive site
based on one of the themes below. Do not just link your homework
pages and submit those linked assignment pages as your final.
This course is teaching you to create and
manage a WEBSITE, not just linked web pages. Make sure
that your final project is a website with content that relates
from page to page, themes, iconography, styles. Your final will be a part of your electronic portfolio and should demonstrate your ability to synthesize material and apply the lessons to a real-world project.
Theme - Select a theme from these categories:
- A real or fictional company
- A portfolio or gallery of your work or photos including descriptions,
resume, graphic and /or multimedia elements
- Instructor's approval for your proposed project theme
Use the tools, techniques and features
learned from the assignments to create a cohesive
site for your final project. Use elements of design such
as repetition of form, consistency of iconography, intuitive consistent
navigation, unity of theme and color, etc.
Under Construction? Don't add it
in.
If your scope for your project is too broad, create your project
in modules so that you can submit a great fully-functional final
to me and then add to it as you have more time and resources after
the class session is over. This way, you can have a high quality
presentation now and know that you can add components later. Keep
this simple. Work in modules. Make every stage of development appear
complete before moving to the next stage. If you work in modules
do not link to pages that display "under
construction". Only link to pages that are complete and make
sure you have at least 6 complete pages in your site.
Name the homepage file index.htm or index.html
NAMING AND UPLOADING
YOUR FINAL PROJECT
*This info may change for users who are using their own Web hosts instead of the school's UNIX server. Create a final folder inside your public_html folder on the UNIX
server. Upload your work to the final folder inside the public_html
folder of your UNIX server for this course. Submit the URL of your
.html document to the Assignments Section of Etudes, the Final Button.
Check the link to the .html page.
If I can't find your final from the link and have to search your
UNIX account, points will be deducted. Have a classmate check your
project before you submit the link to me.
Have them check all links, buttons, etc. to make sure your site
works perfectly and only then, submit to me.
- The URL I will use to grade your project will be similar to
the following URL based upon your particular coin074 section number:
http://krypton.fhda.edu/coin074.04w/yourname/public_html/final/index.html, index.htm, or default.html.
You will not get any credit if a link to an ETUDES submission brings up a 404 error! You
must submit using the ETUDES assignment for all assignment submissions.
-
Material uploaded after the required time on the due date or not
put in the proper directories will not be graded. No exceptions. Please don't wait until the last hour of the last day to submit your final project!
- Make sure you have a code review of your website / electronic portfolio before submitting your final project!
If you are taking any of my other courses, the dates and times
may not be the same for all finals. Please check each class individually.
ETUDES is set not to accept any projects submitted after the expiration
time (PST / PDST) on the due date of your final. Please be available to submit
critiques on classmates' projects until the cutoff time posted in
ETUDES Final Project Assignment. Continue to participate in the
conversations and read all my comments to your classmates so you
can get a sense of a final class critique. You can participate in
replying to any of the posts with your comments. Make sure to check in after you submit in case there are any problems viewing your work!
Students must participate in the final
project review, critiques, etc....no exceptions. For online courses
this means you must get the material for Lesson 12 which will be
your site evaluations of viewing and discussion of classmates' sites.
We will have discussions on what works, why it works or why not,
methods used, etc. Please participate in these discussions in order
to get credit for Lesson 12. Check for comments on your final through
the last day of the term!
