COIN74A Final Project Requirements

DW Cover

Due date is specified in the ETUDES TASKS, TESTS and SURVEYS LINK- NO EXCEPTIONS
I am unable to grant any requests for late submissions on the final.

TIPS:

Do not rely soley on your local computer to test your links and images. Always upload your site to the remote server and get a code reviewer or two to test every single image, link, behavior, etc. When the code reviewers sign their seal of approval on your work, and you are sure that everything is valid, submit the URL for the site into the assignments submission box. The URL of your requirements.htm must be properly submitted to the ETUDES Tasks, Tests and Surveys for Final Project before the assigned due date.

The purpose of your final project is to demonstrate that you can create one unified cohesive website based on one of the themes below. Do not just link your homework pages and submit those linked assignment pages as your final. This course is teaching you to create and manage a WEBSITE, not just linked web pages. Make sure that your final project is a website with content that relates from page to page, themes, iconography, styles. Your final will be a part of your electronic portfolio and should demonstrate your ability to synthesize material and apply the lessons to a real-world project.

Theme - Select a theme from these categories:

  1. A real or fictional company
  2. A portfolio or gallery of your work or photos including descriptions, resume, graphic and /or multimedia elements
  3. Instructor's approval for your proposed project theme

Use the tools, techniques and features learned from the assignments to create a cohesive site for your final project. Use elements of design such as repetition of form, consistency of iconography, intuitive consistent navigation, unity of theme and color, etc.

Under Construction? Don't add it in.

If your scope for your project is too broad, create your project in modules so that you can submit a great fully-functional final to me and then add to it as you have more time and resources after the class session is over. This way, you can have a high quality presentation now and know that you can add components later. Keep this simple.

Make every stage of development appear complete before moving to the next stage. If you work in modules do not link to pages that display "under construction". Only link to pages that are complete and make sure you have at least 6 complete pages in your site.

Name the homepage file index.htm or index.html

NAMING AND UPLOADING YOUR FINAL PROJECT

* This info may change for users who are using their own webhosts instead of the school's UNIX server. Create a final folder inside your public_html folder on the UNIX server. Upload your work to the final folder inside the public_html folder of your UNIX server for this course. Submit the URL of your requirements.htm document to the Assignment Section of ETUDES. Check the link to the requirements.htm page.

If I can't find your final from the link and have to search your UNIX account, points will be deducted.

Code Reviews:

Have at least two classmates check your project before you submit the link to me. Have them check all the links on the requirements.htm and have them check all links, buttons, etc. to make sure your site works perfectly and only then, submit to me. Make sure you do this for at least two of your classmates as well. Keep a text document of all of the comments of your review and the reviews that you gave. You will submit this information, both the reviews you gave and the reviews you received, into Code Review in Assignments, Tests and Surveys (AT&S) in Etudes.

Submittal Summary:

If you are taking other courses the dates and times may not be the same for all finals. Check each class individually. ETUDES is set to not accept any projects submitted after the expiration time PST or PDST on the due date of your final. Please be available to submit critiques on classmates' projects until the cutoff time posted in ETUDES Final Project Assignment. Continue to participate in the conversations and read the comments to your classmates so you can get a sense of a final class critique. You can participate in replying to any of the posts with your comments.
